In a significant breakthrough, Gardaí have arrested three individuals in connection with the harrowing arson attack on the former Shipwright pub in Ringsend on New Year's Eve. 

The arrests were made following targeted raids on four properties during a morning operation by Gardaí. The suspects, comprising two men in their 30s and 50s, as well as a woman in her 20s, are currently in custody at a Garda station in the capital.

The operation, executed under warrants, resulted in the seizure of various items of evidential value, including electronic devices. The horrifying blaze erupted at the former pub on Thorncastle Street around 2 am on New Year's Eve, necessitating the deployment of up to 30 firefighters and six engines.

Despite the challenging circumstances, the inferno was successfully brought under control by approximately 5 am. Families residing nearby had to be evacuated for safety measures, but fortunately, there were no reported injuries. 

The building, apparently slated for use by homeless families, suffered extensive damage. This latest development brings the total number of arrests related to recent arson attacks to ten. A Garda spokesman stated, "Three individuals have been arrested by Gardaí investigating an arson incident at a premises in Ringsend, Dublin 4 on the 31st of December, 2023." 

The detainees, held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, are facing allegations under the Criminal Damage Act. 

The ongoing investigation is actively seeking information from the public, urging anyone with pertinent details to contact Irishtown Garda Station, or any Garda Station. 

An Garda Síochána is also extending its appeal to individuals with information on any other reported incidents of arson, encouraging them to come forward through the Garda Confidential Line or any local Garda Station. The collaborative effort between law enforcement and the community is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of the affected areas.
